And this might be your dream job.

If you love Jesus, care deeply about teenagers, thrive in organized chaos, and believe middle schoolers are actually kind of hilarious… keep reading.

Asbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, is searching for a passionate, driven, ready-to-jump-in leader who wants to make disciples, build community, and transform the next generation through authentic, relational student ministry.

This is not a “sit at a desk” role. This is a “show up, pour in, get messy, get creative, dream big, and point students to Jesus with your whole life” role. If that lights you up, welcome. You’re our people.

What You’ll Get to Do
In this role, you’ll step into the heartbeat of RESET Student Ministry and help create spaces where students feel known, loved, challenged, and welcomed exactly as they are. You will:

– Lead high-energy weekly gatherings that middle schoolers will actually want to come to
– Build real relationships with students and families that matter beyond Sunday
– Teach, guide, and disciple students who are figuring out faith, identity, and purpose
– Develop volunteers into rock-solid leaders who love serving side-by-side with you
– Partner creatively with the Director of Student Ministry to dream and plan big
– Jump into retreats, camps, mission trips, and late-night conversations that students remember forever
– Shape culture, cast vision, help plan events, and innovate how RESET reaches the next generation

This is meaningful work with huge impact and plenty of memorable moments.

Who we are looking for…
We’re looking for someone who:

– Loves Jesus and wants students to know that love in real ways
– Believes middle and high schoolers are worth the investment
– Communicates with clarity, heart, and humor
– Is flexible enough to pivot, steady enough to lead, and creative enough to try new things
– Works well with a team while still bringing initiative
– Organizes well, cares deeply, and laughs easily
– Is available for evenings, weekends, camps, and those “this is why ministry matters” moments
Bonus points: You have ministry or teaching experience or a degree in a related field
(Not required, but definitely awesome.)

What We Offer
You matter here, and so does your health, growth, and calling. At Asbury, you’ll receive:

– Starting salary of $45,000 with room to grow
– Full health and dental benefits at no cost to you and affordable family benefits
– Retirement contributions after six months
– Professional development funding to keep you sharp and inspired
– A supportive team that wants you to thrive
– A healthy work-life rhythm in a church that values real community

Plus, you get to serve alongside a student ministry team that genuinely enjoys doing life, faith, and ministry together.

Why Asbury?
Asbury UMC is a vibrant, mission-driven church with a deep love for the next generation. RESET Student Ministry is creative, relational, fun, and rooted in Scripture. We work hard, laugh loud, and build meaningful connections with students and their families. If you’re looking for a place to grow as a leader, use your gifts, and make a tangible difference in the lives of teenagers, this is it.

Assistant Director of Facilities

Looking for your next big step? This isn’t just a job, it’s a fast-track to leadership.

Asbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham is searching for an Assistant Director of Facilities, and here’s the catch: this role is designed to move into the Director of Facilities position in 18 to 24 months. That means we’re basically hiring our next Director, and in the meantime, you’ll learn, lead, and help us improve how we do things along the way so you start as Director miles ahead.

Our campus is 190,000 square feet of possibility. Nearly 1,000 people worship here in person each week, and on top of that, our spaces host preschool programs, Bible studies, sports leagues, support groups, community outreach ministries, and large community events. Asbury is a 7 day a week church and the Facilities team is the heartbeat that makes it all happen.

What You’ll Do
-Work side by side with our current Director and learn everything from strategy and budgeting to vendor relationships and compliance.
– Be part of a growing team made up of a Director, Assistant Director, Facilities Coordinator, and Facilities Associate.
– Jump in on the hands-on work: setups, repairs, maintenance, and event support.
– Help us modernize systems, improve processes, and adapt to change; we’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to shake things up in the best way and won’t ever say “that’s the way we’ve always done it.”
– Grow into leadership by gradually taking on more responsibility until you’re ready to lead the team as Director.

What We’re Looking For…
– 3 to 5 years of experience in facilities or maintenance work; previous leadership experience is a huge plus!
– Leadership potential and excitement about stepping into a Director role soon.
– A problem-solver who thrives on change and is energized by making things better.
– Dependability, initiative, and a team-first mindset.
– The ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and operate equipment with excitement (because who doesn’t love big toys!?).
– Flexibility to cover evenings or weekends when ministry calls for it.

Why this Role Matters
Because this isn’t just about fixing light bulbs or setting up chairs. This is about creating spaces where people meet God, build friendships, and grow in faith. You’ll be part of a team that values servant leadership, teamwork, and forward-thinking, all while shaping the future of a growing and thriving church that serves its community.

If you’re ready to embrace change, learn fast, and step into a role with real leadership potential, check out the full job description here, then send an email to David Miller, Executive Director with a letter of interest and resume. Your countdown to Director starts now.
